Go west young man! That is what I did. At age 20, after spending a year living in Spain, I headed out to California to attend the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara and Ventura. I lived in a small town in between the two called Carpinteria. There was not much there but a R.V. camp on the beach, a taco stand, and a beautiful beach where I learned to surf.
While attending school, I covered a range of subjects including the 2004 state election campaign, the life of skydivers in the Mojave desert, offshore oil wells in the cold Pacific ocean, and the parks, beaches, and cities that the Golden State has to offer.
